Why has there been such a dramatic rise in childhood eczema in the last year?
This week is National Eczema Week and a survey from the British Skin Foundation has recently revealed that 27% of dermatologists have reported a significant increase in eczema in children in the last 12 months. Eczema now affects 1 in 5 children of school age, and 1 in 12 adults in the UK.
So what is causing this rise in childhood eczema and what new research has been done? Ritula will be joined by Professor John Harper, Consultant in Paediatric Dermatology, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, who has just published some new research and Dr Julia Schofield, Consultant Dermatologist, West Hertfordshire NHS Hospitals Trust & Department of Health, about the best ways of treating the skin.
