Janet Treasure on Eating Disorders 07 Aug
One of the UK’s leading experts on eating disorders on her new handbook for carers.

Professor Janet Treasure, an expert on the treatment of eating disorders, has written a new handbook for carers – many of whom tend to be family members. This book draws on over 20 years' experience at the Eating Disorder Unit at the Maudsley Hospital, and it aims to apply this specialist expertise to the wider community. Little is still understood about the causes of eating disorders and many people are unsure about the most effective treatments. If the illness is treated in the early stages then the recovery rate can be as high as 90%, but this depends on family members spotting the early warning signs. Janet Treasure joins Jenni to explain how.

'Skills-Based Learning for Caring for a Loved One with an Eating Disorder: The New Maudsley Method' by Janet Treasure, Grainne Smith and Anna Crane is published by Routledge ISBN: 978-0-415-43158-3
