Carl Bernstein on Hillary Clinton20th June 2007
Hillary Clinton
Could the former first lady become the first female president?

She's one of the most polarizing figures in American politics and for every car with a ‘Clinton '08’ bumper sticker, there's one with a ‘Stop Hillary’ one. Hillary Clinton has been demonised by the Republican Right as a rabid feminist intent on the destruction of the family. But when her husband’s bid for the presidency was at stake she stood by her man as his extra-marital affairs were exposed in the national media. Now, a Senator for New York and a candidate for the democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton could be set to become America’s first woman president.

Jenni talks to Carl Bernstein, the veteran journalist who broke the Watergate scandal with Bob Woodward, about his new biography eight years in the making of the woman who would be president.

'A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton' by Carl Bernstein is published by Hutchinson, ISBN-13 978-0091920784.
