Treasures of the British Museum - The Cycladic Figure30th May 2007
Cycladic Figure
The British Museum is over 250 years old and one of the most famous museums in the world. For the first time it has allowed television cameras to go behind the scenes for a major 10 part series for BBC2 called 'The Museum'.

Louise Adamson talks to some of the curators about their favourite objects that have particular relevance to women. Lesley Fitton, Curator of the Greek Bronze Age Collection takes Louise to a figure that was created in the Greek Cycladic islands around 2,500 BC. Nowadays the islands – which include places like Paros, Naxos, Santorini and Mykonos – are a popular holiday destination. But in the early Bronze Age they were home to a civilisation whose people created a large number of marble figurines of women.

'The Museum' is aired on BBC2 onThursday 31st May 2007 at 7.30pm.
