A Fatal Obsession31 May 2007
A Fatal Obsession
The dramatic rescue of a woman found unconscious near the summit of Mount Everest has been in the headlines recently. Now Woman’s Hour hears about an all female expedition in 1959 to tackle one of the Himalaya’s most challenging peaks. The adventure ended in tragedy and the story is told in a new book by Stephen Harper who, as a journalist for the Daily Express, followed the women on their climb. Jenni talks to Stephen and to Eileen Healey, a survivor of that traumatic journey.
