Anna Ralph’s debut novel is a tale of love, loss and betrayal: a year ago, Matt rowed out to the floating island, with his younger brother – but something happened. His brother was killed and Matt was confined to a wheelchair, haunted by nightmares and unable to remember what happened that day. A psychiatrist, a carer and a feisty Geordie girl arrive on the scene. And as the floating island returns to the surface of the lake, Matt has to face his brother’s death.
Publishing one’s first novel is a tough business, but it must be especially nerve-wracking when your mum is a Booker Prize winning novelist who has a book of her own book due out the same year. So how did Anna discover her own voice and her way of writing fiction?
