Vasectomy Pain17 Jan 2007
According to Marie Stopes International, as many as 13% of British men have had a vasectomy. One of the most effective forms of contraception, it is a routine operation that takes little more than quarter of an hour. But the editor of a leading men’s health website recently revealed that vasectomy pain is the second most frequently raised topic by his readers. There are no firm figures on men suffering chronic post-vasectomy pain, but estimates vary between 5 and 30%. So why isn’t this pain more commonly known, and what impact does it have on men and relationships? Martha is joined by one sufferer of chronic pain, and discusses its effect with urological surgeon Dr Andrew Dawson and Relate relationship therapist Anita Bryce.
