Asian Lesbians18 Jan 2007
‘Sphere’ is a theatre project, four years in the making. A group of women who’s family background is South Asian – Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indian – joined together to explore their experiences of being lesbians. The women range in age from 16 to 50. As well as contending with their families’ reaction to their sexuality, good and bad, they also have to deal with isolation within the gay community. They’ve devised a play called Journeys, reflecting their experiences. Clare Jenkins has been talking to some of the women involved.
