Grow your own vegetables02 Jan 2007
Home-grown vegetables
From the back garden to the kitchen table.

Carol Klein, the nation's new gardening guru, believes that plants have personalities too; some are gate-crashing party animals, some are flamoyant attention-seekers and some are simply honest and very down-to-earth. To Carol, tasting a newly scrubbed potato from the ground is an experience, like no other. And, she claims, it's easy to grow oragnic vegetables, even if you are gardening in a fifth storey flat in the centre of town.

Carol Klein talks to Martha about the rewards, edible and otherwise, of growing your own vegetables.

Carol Klein's book 'Grow your own Veg' is published by Mitchell Beazley, ISBN: 1845332938. The TV programme starts on BBC 2 on Friday 5th January at 8.30pm and will be repeated on Mondays at 7.30pm.
