Beth Tweddle sprung from relative obscurity to a place in the sporting spotlight this year when she claimed Britain's first world gymnastics gold medal at the World Championships this October in Denmark. Now she is one of ten sports people shortlisted for the title of BBC Sports Personality of the Year - alongside household names Zara Philips and Andy Murray.
