Should the availability of genetic testing be extended so that parents carrying an inherited genetic defect do not have to face an abortion or childlessness? The technology has been around to test for genetic disease prior to pregnancy using IVF techniques for more than ten years. However, the numbers of couples who take advantage of it is still small. Is underfunding and over-regulation to blame?
