What has the Blair Government done for Women?17 Nov 2006
With the Prime Minster due to stand down next summer, this week saw his government’s final Queen’s speech. But what has the Government achieved for the women who elected them?

New Labour came to power in 1997 thanks in part to female voters, who have traditionally been more likely to vote Conservative. It promised help for working families, a culture change in the way politics was conducted and to concentrate on the issues which women say they care about. But has it lived up to the great expectations it created? And how has the Blair Government changed women’s lives since it came to power?

Martha is joined by minister for women and equalities, Meg Munn, Katherine Rake, Director of the Fawcett Society and social commentator Maureen Freely.
