We know that the abortion rate increased with the last health scare over the Pill. Now another rise is being predicted as a direct result of cuts to family planning services. So why is the provision of contraception in community clinics such a 'Cinderella' service when it is so popular with women? And as more and more women favour long-acting methods such as coils and implants, will cutbacks mean these will become luxury items only available to the affluent few?
