Why is the hour after birth so important?
New-borns used to get a slap on the bottom, and then a quick wash before being allowed anywhere near mum – now one midwife’s research shows that there are real benefits to allowing for a 'golden hour' of uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth.

Dr Mary Price from Salford University joins Miriam O'Reilly to explain why.
