History
Ann Pettitt - Greenham Common Pioneer20 Sep 2006
Greenham Common
Ann Pettitt was one of the founders of The Women's Peace Camp at Greenham Common, set up in September 1981 when 36 women marched 120 miles for 10 days from their South Wales homes to the Berkshire airbase in protest at plans to store cruise missiles. By the mid 80s, more than a thousand women had moved there and many tens of thousands came for weekends and to lend support part-time. Ann tells Jenni about what it took to start this iconic movement, the hurdles the women encountered and just why Greenham women were so important, even in Russia.

'Walking to Greenham, How the peace camp began and the Cold War ended' by Ann Pettitt, published by Honno, ISBN: 1870206762.
