Kathleen McGowan’s new thriller is a chase through esoteric cults, early Christian history and the Cathar country of South-West France. It is replete with feuding secret societies, sinister figures sworn to protect the Church, symbols, codes and a holy bloodline from the marriage of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene.
These are all familiar themes to the forty million people worldwide who have read ‘The Da Vinci Code’. But Kathleen McGowan’s novel goes further. According to its author, it’s also a fictionalised version of her own story. McGowan claims that she and, what is more, many millions of men and women are the descendents of the union of Christ and Mary Magdalene.
Jenni talks to Kathleen McGowan about her controversial novel.
