The name Tiffany's conjures up images of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, diamond glamour and American chic. But Charles Lewis Tiffany was an innovator not only in jewellery design, but also in the way he sold it. He started mail order, and made sure that you could buy a parasol for $10 or $1000, providing something for everyone. An exhibition covering 150 years of Tiffany's jewellery opens next week at the Gilbert Collection in London.
Ritula Shah talks to the exhibition's curator, Clare Phillips, about Tiffany and some of his creations, and Emily Barber of Bonham's Auctioneers.
