Canal Boat Women29 May 2006
According to the Residential Boat Owners’ Association increasing numbers of women are now choosing to live afloat and not just those in search of a peaceful retirement or a bohemian lifestyle.

This is particularly evident in and around big UK cities where the lack of affordable housing and the redevelopment of canals is attracting a new breed of single, professional women.

Yet dip beneath the surface and is boat life as practical and idyllic as it seems? Anna Bailey finds out from three women who have chosen to live on the water.
