Sigourney Weaver
The queen of action heroes on being ten-foot-tall and blue

The critically acclaimed, three times Oscar-nominated actress Sigourney Weaver has starred in such films as Gorillas in the Mist, Working Girl and Ice Storm. But she is still best known for playing the tough-talking action hero Lieutenant Ellen Ripley in the Alien quadrilogy. 30 years after her first appearance in Alien she plays a lead role in another science fiction adventure - James Cameron’s long-awaited ‘Avatar’, said to be the most expensive film ever made. Sigourney plays two roles: botanist Dr Grace Augustine; and her genetically bred counterpart, a hybrid creature that is ten foot tall and blue. Sigourney talks to Jane about her new role.
Avatar is released in cinemas on Thursday 17 December 2009
