Kamilya Jurban is a Palestinian singer, instrumentalist and composer and one of the most prominent contemporary artists in the Middle East. Karine Polwart is a Scottish folk singer songwriter whose debut album won the Radio 2 Folk Album of the Year Award in 2005. They’ve been brought together for an unusual Scots-Palestinian collaboration by the British Council for a concert at the Barbican in London tonight to celebrate its 75th anniversary, and to highlight the Council’s support for similar cross cultural projects over the years. Kamilya and Karine perform live in the studio and join Sheila to discuss the importance of mixing with artists from other cultures and their experience of working together.
