IVF - have we gone too far?

One of the country’s leading infertility experts has warned that women are risking their lives and their livelihoods in pursuit of a child. Professor Sammy Lee helped pioneer the use of donor eggs in fertility treatment and is chairing a conference on motherhood in the 21st century. He says some women are having 12 or more cycles of treatment - despite the health risks and the cost. He argues that doctors need to be more ready to say ‘no’ and to encourage women to come to terms with the fact they can not have children. Jenni is joined by Professor Lee, fertility expert at University College, London and Brian Lieberman, Medical Director of Manchester Fertility Services to discuss the issues.
