Honey and Diva Dancers
Indian dancing at the Proms

This Sunday is Indian Voices Day at the BBC Proms. Alongside classical khyal singing and sarangi performances, the evening boasts a Bollywood extravaganza. The Royal Albert Hall will be treated to dance performances by Honey’s Dance Academy, ranging from Indian traditional and folk dances, to hip hop inspired Bollywood numbers. All things Bollywood have become increasingly popular in recent years, and dance classes have seen their numbers swell as people take advantage of its fitness benefits. Jenni is joined by Honey Kalaria, who has choreographed the Prom's performance, and Dr Ann David from Roehampton University, an expert in dance ethnography. They discuss the origins of the Bollywood style and Honey demonstrates some steps.
