Keats and Brawne16 Jul 2009
Andrew Dawson and JenniferTaylor performing as John Keats and Fanny Brawne. The picture is by Polly Hancock.
The romance and love letters

The letters John Keats wrote to Fanny Brawne over the course of their relationship are some of the most famous love letters ever written. They were discovered following Brawne’s death in 1865, and caused a furore among both critics and admirers who were shocked at their candour. Jenni is joined by Jennifer Taylor, the actress playing Fanny in a new production, 'Keats in Hampstead' and the academic Dr. Kerri Andrews, from the British Association of Romantic Studies, to discuss their letters, the romantic poetry and the couple’s ill-fated romance.

Keats in Hampstead at Keats House in London opens on Friday 24th July until August 9th
