Carole King by Jim McCrary
A rare interview with the legendary singer

She started writing songs over 50 years ago, and created some of the most memorable pop hits for the stars of the 60s and 70s. With her first husband Gerry Goffin she produced such classics as Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Crying In The Rain, The Loco-Motion, I’m Into Somethin’ Good and (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman. But it was not until she released her solo album Tapestry that Carole King received international acclaim as a singer in her own right. Timeless tracks such as You’ve Got A Friend, I Feel The Earth Move, and It’s Too Late made Tapestry one of the greatest selling albums of all time, earning Carole four Grammys. Most of the more than 100 songs she has written have become Top 40 hits, covered by everyone from Aretha Franklin to The Beatles to Kylie Minogue. Carole tells Sheila about her extraordinary life and career.

The Legacy Edition of Carole King’s 1971 record Tapestry is out now.
