Aviator Sheila Scott broke 104 records including a solo flight around the world. But despite her bravery, achievements and glamour – she flew with a mini make-up kit on board – her name is not in the public imagination in the same way as Amelia Earhart or Amy Johnson. A new exhibition Fantastic Flight opens this week at the National Museum of Flight in East Lothian. The curator Jen Simpson, joins Jane Little to celebrate the woman who became known as Britain’s “Queen of the Air”.
