Sir Michael Parkinson was born near Barnsley in Yorkshire. His father and grandfather had both been miners at the Grimethorpe Colliery but Michael took a different course in life. Despite only getting 2 O-levels at school, he got a job as a reporter on a local paper and, after many years working in print journalism, became the king of the TV chat show. He talks to Jenni about his childhood, his career and about the women who influenced him in his life.
