Ani DiFranco
On music and motherhood

For nearly 20 years, American singer songwriter Ani DiFranco has released her material on her own record label, winning worldwide accolades for her uncompromising approach to independent music making. In 2006, she received the "Woman of Courage Award” from the National Organization for Women, which is given each year to a woman who has set herself apart by her contributions to the feminist movement. She tells Clare how she views the current feminist movement in the US and why the birth of her daughter last year has made her less politically combative. She also performs live in the studio.
