Pam Ayres
The poet talks about her work and looks forward to her new concert tour

The poet Pam Ayres first appeared on television in 1975 in the talent show Opportunity Knocks, and it launched her career as the writer and performer of comic verse. It fulfilled an ambition that had developed during her time in the Women’s Royal Air Force. Since that first appearance, she has sold over two and a half million books and half a million CDs, and one of her poems, ‘I Wish I’d Looked After me Teeth’, was also voted into the top ten of the UK’s 100 Favourite Comic Poems. Now as her book, The Works, is republished and she starts a UK concert tour ,she talks to Jane about her life and work.

Pam Ayres The Works published by BBC Books ISBN 978-1846074653
