The Queen of Bluegrass on joining forces with a legend of rock.
Violinist and singer Alison Krauss' musical career began when she entered a talent competition at the age of 8. When she was 13, the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America declared her the most promising fiddler in the Midwest. It was the first in a long line of music awards, and in 1999 she contributed to the massively successful soundtrack for the film O Brother Where Art Thou? Last year, she teamed up with Led Zeppelin rocker Robert Plant and the resulting album, Raising Sand, has been shortlisted for this year’s Mercury Music Prize. She joins Jane to talk about a life in music, and her collaberation with a rock legend.
