Girls' Names in Song10 July 2008
45 single

From Eileen to Jolene, Alison to Annie – women’s names have been appearing in song titles since the earliest days of pop. Amy Winehouse’s cover of The Zutons’ song ‘Valerie’ is just the latest to make it big. So what is it about our names that means songwriters can’t help getting lyrical? Jenni will be joined by writer & broadcaster Paul Gambaccini and songwriter, Amanda Ghost to ask what makes women’s names so attractive?
