Boys taking exams
Helping adolescent boys become good men

Celia Lashlie is an education advisor who has spent many years working in the prison service in New Zealand. As a result, she knows what can happen when boys make the wrong choices in their lives. Her "Good Man" Project investigated the way boys develop through their teenage years. Having spent many months in schools talking to the boys themselves, she believes that women teachers should "step back and shut up" in the classroom, and that mothers should not try to run their sons' lives. She has now written a book, ‘He’ll Be Ok’, and she joins Jane to talk about her findings. They are joined by Professor Carrie Paechter of Goldsmiths College, University of London who has researched widely on gender issues in education.
