Ffion Hague
On Lloyd George and women

Lloyd George has long been credited as one of our greatest prime ministers, but behind the fiery Welshman were several equally fiery women. His wife Margaret and his long-term mistress Frances Stevenson were key players in his life. Yet they both shared the man they adored with a string of other lovers, and rumours of illegitimate children abound. Ffion Hague has been delving into the lives of Lloyd George’s women and joins Jenni to talk of devotion, deception and Downing Street.

'The Pain and the Privilege: The Women in Lloyd George’s Life' by Ffion Hague is published by Harper Press, ISBN 978 0 00 721949 0. It is the Radio 4 Book of the Week from Monday 16th June.
