New TV play explores why Jane Austen never met her own Mr Darcy
Miss Austen Regrets is based on the life and letters of Jane Austen. It tells the story of the novelist’s final years, examining why, despite setting the standard for romantic fiction, she never met her own Mr Darcy. Jenni is joined by Gwyneth Hughes, the scriptwriter of Miss Austen Regrets, to discover why she died unmarried.
