Talks about his varied writing career and experiences of cancer
Alan Bennett is the author of a number of immensely successful plays including The History Boys, an acclaimed series of television monologues, Talking Heads, as well as short stories and other prose. His latest novella The Uncommon Reader imagines what would happen if the Queen became an avid book lover. He has also had cancer in recent years and tomorrow he’ll be launching Cancerbackup’s 'What Now?' appeal, for the charity which provides support for anyone affected by cancer.
Jenni talks to Alan Bennett about his experiences of cancer and his varied writing career.
