A dance of passion that began in Buenos Aires and captivated the world
The Tango is a dance that seems to stir the passions and imagination in a way that no other dance can: more feeling than footwork. A new book makes the case for going back to its roots in the dancehalls of Buenos Aires and learning from the practitioners of the Golden Age – the forties and fifties – to discover what the true essence of the dance is. Christine Denniston, the author of “The Meaning of Tango”, talks about the dance’s colourful history and how a poster for a tango show inspired her to travel to Argentina to learn more. And she’ll show Jenni how it’s done – starting with the heartbeat.
"The Meaning of Tango” by Christine Denniston is published by Portico Books on 27th September 2007,ISBN 9781906032166
