The Hasidic Jewish artist on her work and how it's received
Gitl Wallerstein Braun is an unusual artist not least because she is an Hasidic Jew. Having only learnt English ten years ago Gitl broke with the strict traditions of her community and studied art at Central Saint Martins. Since graduating last year she is achieving international success and is currently exhibiting work as part of the British Library’s ‘Sacred’ touring exhibition. She joins Jane to talk about how her religion has shaped her work and how her community is dealing with her endeavours.
Sacred on Location is at Bruce Castle Museum, London N17 8NU until August 27th, 2007
