RHS Chelsea Flower Show: The New Hall Garden21st May 2007
The New Hall Garden Design Image: Sue Goss
RHS Chelsea Flower Show gets underway this week, and among the many gardens on display is one which has been created by a team from Cambridge University. New Hall is one of the few remaining all-women colleges there, and the team who have created the garden is largely made up of former students from the College.

The New Hall garden has been created to celebrate the College’s spirit of scientific enquiry and is based on a rare astronomical event – the Transit of Venus – when Venus passes between the Sun and the Earth. At the end of last week Louise Adamson went to the Chelsea site and spoke to New Hall’s head gardener and project leader, Jo Cobb, gardening writer Ursula Buchan and Claire Haggard, a former student.
