From her whining, earnest tones as Eth in Take It from Here, through Hancock’s Half Hour to Absolutely Fabulous – actress, June Whitfield has hardly been out of the public eye. Shortly after leaving RADA in 1944, June appeared in the musicals Love from Judy and South Pacific. Now she’s treading the musical boards again – this time in the English National Opera’s revival of Leonard Bernstein’s On the Town. She talks to Jane about her eminent career in radio, television and the theatre – a career which has spanned over 60 years.
