Music
Jennifer Bate13 April 2007
Jennifer Bate
Jennifer Bate is one of the world’s most distinguished organists; “esteemed wizard of the organ”, is how The Times has described her.

Her vast repertoire ranges from the 18th century to the most modern virtuoso scores. She recently finished recording The Complete Organ Works of Mendelssohn – a massive 68 pieces on 5 CDs.

Miriam talks to Jennifer about what drew her to the instrument, her love of organ music and her work nurturing young musicians.

Jennifer is in concert at Southwark Cathedral on Thursday 26 April 2007 at 7.30 pm. It is a concert of music and readings - with Prunella Scales as reader - in aid of The Childlink Adoption Society and St James’ Church Organ Appeal. Tickets are £15 or £10: available on the door or in advance from Childlink Adoption Society, Tel: 020 7501 1700
