Laura Veirs started playing guitar in an angry feminist punk band in her final year of college where she was studying geology and Mandarin, but then picked up a cheap guitar on a geological expedition to China and started writing indie-folk songs. She has released five albums over the last seven years and her latest album Saltbreakers is filled with references to the natural world; stars, glaciers, the Pacific Ocean and flying fish.
Laura will be playing live, telling Jenni about the ‘transcendent’ experience of recording in the Nashville cabin of Johnny Cash and June Carter and sharing the song-writing tips she gives to her students.
