BBC - Radio 4 Woman's Hour -Cowboy Junkies

In 1985 four Canadian children from the same family gathered with a close family friend in Toronto`s Holy Trinity church, with one microphone and just one day to create a record. It was this record- The Trinity Session- that was to be hailed as a “challenge to traditional music” and shot them to stardom. The band, Cowboy Junkies, have a music style that has been described as haunting and evocative, with an aura of “soporific decadence”. Their version of Sweet Jane was celebrated as “the best and most authentic version I have ever heard,” by Lou Reed himself. Vocalist, Margo Timmins and her brother, the band's song writer, Michael Timmins, join Martha to play live in the studio and discuss what it is like to work in a band made up of family members.
