Elizabeth George
Martha talks to the crime writer Elizabeth George, who created the very popular British aristocrat Inspector Lynley. In her last book, Lynley’s pregnant wife is inexplicably gunned down outside their home, the trigger apparently being pulled by a twelve year old boy. Now in her latest novel What Came Before He Shot Her, Elizabeth takes a new direction and goes back in time to look at the circumstances behind the shooting. She tells Martha why she wanted to examine the breakdown of society, to write a novel from the perspective of the child suspect and why, as an American, she continues to be fascinated about different aspects of British life.
