Celia Imrie is one of our most accomplished and best loved actresses, from her role as Miss Babs in Victoria Wood’s ‘Acorn Antiques’ sketch, to stripping off behind a plate of cherry bakewells in Calendar Girls, and other thoroughly British films like Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones’ Diaries, and Hilary and Jackie in which she played Iris du Pre. She’s about to become part of Friday night viewing on BBC1 starring as the domineering mother-in-law to Nicholas Lyndhurst in a new sitcom called After You’ve Gone.
Carolyn talks to her about her impressive career on stage and screen, and the key to her comic timing.
After You’ve Gone starts on Friday 12 January at 8.30pm on BBC One. | |
