Music
Chrissie Hynde19 Apr 2006
Chrissie Hynde's musical career started in bed - she would lie with her transistor radio under her pillow taking late night trips across the radio dial. And when she left her native America to come to London, in 1973, she discovered that far from being the dumb hillbilly kid that she assumed, she knew more about music than most people she met.

Her peers at the time went on to become key players in punk bands such as The Clash, The Sex Pistols and Slits and eventually in 1978 Chrissie formed The Pretenders. The band went on to have many hits spanning 3 decades, Talk of the Town, Back on the Chain Gang, I'll Stand by you and Brass in Pocket which was number 1 in 1979.

Chrissie joins Jenni to talk about the ups and downs of more than 25 years in the music business, and discusses some of her favourite tracks from the Pretenders' back catalogue.

Pirate Radio is released by Rhino Records.
