Next Friday sees the release of the Merchant Ivory film The White Countess. Set in Shanghai in 1936 it follows the story of Sofia, a member of the Russian nobility forced out by the Bolshevik revolution and former diplomat Jackson played by Ralph Fiennes.
The story revolves around The White Countess a nightclub created by Jackson against a backdrop of the chaos of Shanghai on the brink of Japanese invasion.
Martha Kearney is joined by Natasha Richardson to talk about the film, her experiences filming in China and what it was like acting alongside her mother and aunt.
