When my Editor called me into his office to ask me to find out where all the NHS money had gone, I sent a series of detailed questions to the Departments of Health in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. I thought they were fairly straight forward but some of the press offices have told me that answering certain questions took quite a while. It seems some statistics had to be requested specifically for us. Not all the questions have been answered - some data isn't collected at all - but the files provide us with unique dossiers on the health service in the UK. One word of warning though - don't try to compare one file with another due to the different ways the various Health Departments collect the statistics.
