As part of our Colchester OB (on Janurary 24th) which looked at "citizen journalism" , Polly Billington interviewed Dan Gillmor - the founder of Bayosphere - the citizen journalism website covering the San Francisco area. He's had to suspend it - and has explained the pitfalls he faced .

South Korea has a thriving online journalism community too.

Simon Waldman is Director of Digital Publishing at the Guardian. He recommends their "Been There" site as an example of how readers contribute content that others find reliable.

The National Union of Journalists has drawn up a code , worried about the impact on their members of people contributing for free.
