Today presenter Edward Stouton visits Afghanistan to bring us a series of reports on the security situation there.

14th January -The main British base in Helmand
British troops are trying to help Afghan forces - the army and the police - to take greater responsibility for security in what had been the Taleban stronghold of Musa Qala . Naturally, the experiment is being closely watched in the main British base in Helmand, where the Afghan troops have been trained. Edward Stourton talks to some of the troops.

15th January - Helmand Province
At least seven people were killed in a suicide attack on a well known hotel in the Afghan capital, Kabul. Taleban militants managed to breach the security at the Serena Hotel before detonating their explosives. Edward Stourton speaks to the Commander of British troops there, Brigadier Andrew Mackay about the security situation.
