Award-winning novelist Ian McEwan has written his first libretto for a new opera by his friend the composer Michael Berkeley.

For You is about a married conductor and his besotted housekeeper, and with themes of secrets, lies and obsessive love, it bears all the hallmarks of Ian McEwan's work. Arts correspondent Rebecca Jones had exclusive access to the first rehearsal of his new work.
