Across Britain, parents are trying to get their children into their preferred school. But for many, the current system is a nightmare in which the schools hold all the cards.
The government thinks the answer is to create more choice and the new trust schools. Opponents of the policy think these will create a two-tier system. But with private and selective schools taking the brightest pupils, isn't that what we have already?
